I just watched this video about “leftover women” in China, and it was one of the saddest things I’ve seen all year.
One women said:
Maybe I should give up on someone I love for someone who’s suitable. Maybe I’ am being selfish. I want to say sorry to them.
And then she started crying and my heart broke a little.
You’re not responsible for other people expectations. There’s nothing wrong with you. And the only people being selfish are your parents.
Every day, I feel grateful that I don’t have to deal with this sort of issue. But then I see that there are millions who do, and all I can say to them is: I’m sorry that you have to go through this pain.
