Read The Documentation

Programmers often hear “read the docs” as advice.

But no one likes reading. “It saves time” rarely gets through your apathy.

I’ll throw in my worst story about this to encourage you to do it anyway: playing The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

I didn’t realize I had somehow set the controls to left-handed, so I learned to play left-handed because Oblivion was apparently that fun.

I spent 500 hours on that game. All left-handed. For 5 years after, I did everything right-handed except playing video games.

All because I didn’t RTFM.

Read it.
